Destruction of vaccinated units

NAADSM 3.1
Destruction
Vaccination
Are herds automatically added to the destruction list when they are vaccinated?

No, vaccination and destruction are independent

No, vaccinated herds are not automatically scheduled for destruction. These two control options are completely independent in NAADSM. If you want to simulate this effect, however, you could accomplish it by creating destruction rings the same size as your vaccination rings. In this case, if your destruction capacity was more limited than your vaccination capacity, herds might be vaccinated and destroyed some time later.

In our scenarios, we are not

In our scenarios, we are not using destruction rings, but we are destroying clinical detections and direct contacts. In this case, then, vaccinated herds that were either already infected at the time of vaccination or that subsequently had a direct contact would be destroyed: correct?

That's (mostly) right

That is correct. There is one more situation that might arise in this case when a vaccinated unit might be destroyed: if a susceptible unit is vaccinated but then becomes infected before the vaccination becomes effective, it might be detected and destroyed later on. (The delay to onset of vaccine immunity is described in section 8 of the NAADSM Model Description.)
